www.neotokyohq.com - A mod inspired by Masamune Shirow. This was originially a UT2k4 mod, but they are moving it to HL2(smart) and wanting to add gameplay similiar to NS. They got some great artist and programming talent. They aren't all talk either, as they already have things working such as optical camoflage(sp?).
Natural Selection Source
Well yeah hopefully it actually happens.
From the NSarmslabs folks. Looks good so far. I like the style and since they play NS they might have some good gameplay ideas other than just deathmatch(boring!).
There are others out there, I'm just not sure if they'll deliver.

And how many well known HL mods are there?
Thank you very much.
Valve is just praying someone can put out the mother of all mods that they can ride all the way to the bank. Chances are someone will be able to do it seeing how HL2 is easier to work with. Hostile Intent has potential on the HL2 engine. The Neo Tokyo mod sounds awesome, if i remember correctly, Shirow is also the same guy that did Ghost In The Shell, and if we can have stuff like HV bullets in Mac-10s, optical camoflauge, etc, this could be every fanboy's dream FPS game.

From the NS site,
[ April 11th, 2005 ] :: NS v3.1 announced (Nemesis Zero)
...We have also begun to research the efforts and challenges involved in a port of Natural Selection to VALVe's Source engine (Half-life II). So far our results have been mixed but with some positive surprises in terms of the artwork. We hope to begin asset creation relatively soon. There will however be no decisions on the code and the initial scope of the Source port until after v3.1 is released.
