Well, I didn't like the update at all at first, then after playing for a few hours it started to grow on me. It seems like you need to take more care when you're marine since skulks don't die nearly as quickly, I now find myself thinking before rounding corners ;). It also got rid of all of the server plugins, at least for a while. I was wondering what everyone else thought of NS now.

Oh, and it does seem like the shotgun is total garbage at first, I noticed that you have to have it somewhat steady for it to be effective (hard to flick the mouse and get kills with it). You also can't really snipe with it anymore. Maybe it's all in my head, all I know is the shotgun felt really wierd at first.

After playing this for a while, NS just needs to go to source. I love all the tweaks they've done, but really each patch is a waste of time that coulda been spent converting to source. I know they have a couple teams working seperately on old NS and NS:S, but if combining them would make things move faster they should. They mentioned alot of things they could add with the source engine which are completely doable. Actual weldable doors being my favorite. I want marines to weld a door shut while I break it open with an onos's horn! Things like that give me a woody. Boooingg!

Yeah, for it's time it may have been good but personally I think the HL engine is a piece of shit. NS would be a great game if it were moved to an updated engine. As it stands I think the game is very far from perfect. On the outside NS mode may seem balanced but again, if you ask me it still has lots of major flaws. I don't think I need to go into CO mode either.

They need to stick it on the UT2K4 or Doom3 engine. Most stable game engines out right now. Hard as hell to find an error in the Doom3 engine. So far all the bugs reported have been b/c of old drivers and crap. Only downside to the engine is that no one knows it's internet capabilities. So that leaves only UT2K4, but it'll soon be upgraded again. :-\

Sucks that it has to be on the HL engine. Game has a ton of potential. If Blizzard wanted to take on the FPS world, it's a good game to go off of.

so it is going into sources because some people are saying it isnt others say it is im confused, weldable doors would be fun, its true with the skulks they dont die as easy as they used to now especially with the /menu which i find is kind of unfair and is more alien sided like the perma charge hunger onos is almost unstoppable same goes with fades
