I've noticed that the server takes quite a while to come back up after a crash (10+ mins) sometimes. You may want to look into using ServerDoc (it's free) to restart the server after a crash. I use it on my clans NS server and would recommend it to any server admin out there.
ServerDoc
If you have any questions on how to set it up, let me know.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I didn't even get it to work and I hate it. Just looking through the documentation and attempting to learn how to configure it gave me a headache. What were these people thinking?
So, I'm in the process of writing my own. I have an initial capability (starts and restarts the server, waiting the for process to fully die before restarting), but it not threaded yet so the main app doesn't respond when the server is spawned lol.
I should have a new server restart solution in place this weekend.

I use desktop shortcuts on my clans dedicated system for our servers. I attempted to use the GUI only to get a headache from it. So I switched to the command line options instead.
What the desktop shortcut looks like and what each part does.
Path to the executable
15 second restart delay
Path to the HLDS executable
Telling it to run the NS server
20 slots for the server
The map to run when it re/starts up
Use the console mode instead of the GUI
Bind the HLDS to this IP and Port
Ensuring that the server.cfg is executed on re/start
Here's what yours may look like:

Wow, thanks for that info. But I'm still mad at them and just finished threading the server instances, so I'm probably going to stick with mine just because.

Heh, blame Dem
j/k
I don't have the new restart program in place and I left it down so Dem could get to it to see what happened. I'll be putting the new restart program on tomorrow sometime....

What do you guys use to access the server computer? RealVNC? That's the best program I've used. I co-own a server for a different game. The server (well, not the computer itself, but the program) crashes quite often due to all the customizing we've done. I use VNC to hop onto it real quick. It works like a damn charm. Also, we use WinPOL Restart (I think that's what it's called) to restart our server in case it crashed (again, the program, not the computer). Only problem with that is sometimes it starts up two of the programs instead of one :-P
