Alright so heres a little back story to this, i have an ATi 9550 -256mb graphics card, I tried overclocking it just a wee bit too much and its been running kinda crappy ever since. I got a differant heatsink to put onto the graphics card but just so I dont fuck it up I'm trying to figure out how to pull the old heat sink off without breaking anything :ninja: There are 2 pins on the heatsink that go through the board. it looks as if i could use a pair of needle nose plyers to squeeze the opposite sides of the pins together and push it through but I cant quite get it through... Help before I go nuts and put my 9200 back in :D . I wont have any trouble putting the new heatsink on its just removin the old one thats drivin my nutty.

Here's a how-to article. Are those the same pins? If the heatsink is "glued" on the gpu you can use floss to try and get it loose, by of course sliding the floss between the gpu and heatsink in a saw like motion.

no =/. I went to that site first to find a tut to remove it. those pins are differant mine go through the board and one end is flat like a nail with a spring between it, and the other end what looks like you could squeeze together part of it to slide it through but you cant quite do it.

kinda like this all together []@|->
top|spring|board|through the board|wedge through bottom of board

Btw did you set the clocks speeds back to normal and notice any changes? Did it become stable?

Your new heatsink has its own screws right? Got thermal paste? Your sure it'll fit?

If so, I'd just use a wire cutter and cut those things off. The new heatsink should have its own screws.

What happened with the monitor? I'm wondering if you tried your new heatsink out, the video card fried and your monitor remained blank. /worried

Ugh, MAG, those are cheap ass POS monitors. First normal Intel computer my family had came from Acer with a MAG. Acer sucks at computers and MAG blows at monitors. That monitor came with some weird ass blue tint that even the video card couldn't fix.
Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of 'hot xxx galore'. While I clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", I muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.
