So I had this eerie feeling my harddrive wants to die soon, but I'm not positive. I don't know if it's the culprit of the noise, but think of the noise as someone outside your house on the street passing by on a dirt bike / go-kart / moped. It's like the buzzing now "drives" past me. It could be a fan, the fan controller screwing up the fans, or the harddrive, but I'm curious if anyone else has ever had the experience.

Right now I'm defragging the drive as I type, hoping that maybe it's just having to work too hard.
Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of 'hot xxx galore'. While I clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", I muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

Turn off the computer, unplug any hard drive or CD/DVD drive power connectors. This ensures that the only moving parts inside your computer are fans. If the noise is still there, its a fan and probably a bearing going out. If the noise isn't there, plug in the suspect hard drive to see if the noise comes back.

It may also be a bad capacitor in the power supply. Just to determine the general area of the computer it is coming from. Most likely it is a fan though.

Forum lag? I bought a new computer like 3 weeks ago. I figured a 5yr old computer was at it's end anyways.
